Engine ReMapping

A vehicle remap replaces default software on the ECU, overwriting it with new software which can be programmed to optimize the cars overall performance. This is known as vehicle remapping because the ECU is essentially a program that controls how the engine works. When your car is remapped, the tuned software is plugged into your cars serial port (or OBD port) which then overwrites the engine map with the new version to enhance engine performance. The ability to flash directly through the OBD has brought the tuning industry on leaps and bounds, with constant development on the engine now being much quicker via the flash process, it has enabled Elite Remap to develop some of the best software in the world.

Exhaust Upgrades

Many automotive companies offer aftermarket exhaust system upgrades as a subcategory of engine tuning. This is often fairly expensive as it usually includes replacing the entire exhaust manifold or other large components. These upgrades however can significantly improve engine performance and do this through means of two main principles:

By reducing the exhaust back pressure, engine power is increased in four-stroke engines.

By reducing the amount of heat from the exhaust being lost into the underbonnet area. This reduces the underbonnet temperature and consequently lowers the intake manifold temperature, increasing power. This also has a positive side effect of preventing heat-sensitive components from being damaged. Furthermore, keeping the heat in the exhaust gases speeds these up, therefore reducing back pressure as well.

Suspension Upgrades

Spend the same money on a good quality suspension setup, and it's a different story. Shaving an inch or so off your ride height tucks your wheels a little closer to the arches for a concept car stance. It also brings your centre of gravity lower to the ground, reducing body roll and helping you corner better.

As an added benefit, if you care about it, the lower your car the more aerodynamic it becomes, which means you might actually start seeing more miles to the ever more expensive gallon of fuel. Those ultra-efficient versions most manufacturers have on sale almost all use shorter springs.
